man he used to be

I miss the man he used to be
The father who loved wholeheartedly
Struggles have come and gone
Making the days and nights seem long
A marriage that came to an end
It was one they just couldn't mend
Two daughters left to the unknown
Having to figure things out on their own
Closer and closer the daughter's became
Having to work through their own pain
Good or bad choices had to be made
On others, it didn't help to place blame
Father, with another, finally found happiness
But the daughter's were still a mess
With a heavy heart, the oldest moved on
Leaving the younger to feel all she loved were gone
Years and years came and went
Putting all emotions to the test.
A family of her own the oldest created
Not fully realizing the sister's relationship slowly faded
I miss the way it used to be
When all three were happy
A father who laid hallmark cards to be found
But now, to his other family he is bound
One conversation is all it took
To the core, their anger shook
Words of anger are so fleeting
And leaves the heart lie bleeding
When's the time to give in?
Do either really win?
The sister's relationship flourishes and grows
While the one with father is still on hold
Hopefully a meeting in the middle will soon begin
Before it's too late and this family comes to an end.
